Quick review: fave highstreet concealer: Maybelline instant age rewind eraser eye #3

image

This concealer has easily become everyone’s favourite and undoubtedly with reason.  Maybelline’s anti age eye eraser- is almost what it’s name suggests. It beautifully erases dark circles temporarily giving a beautiful finish.

As maybelline claim:

the formula, is enriched with Goji Berry, and helps care for the eye area by hydrating, while covering flawlessly.

Maybelline’s claims:

Why You’ll Love It
• Micro-Corrector Applicator micro-fills and smoothes
.• Active formula with Haloxyl reduces the look of puffiness and shadows while fading the appearance of under-eye circles

Packaging?

This concealer comes in a twist up style packaging, allowing product to come on the microbial sponge when twisting the tube. This sponge then allows easy distribution accross the face.
Some people dislike the sponge tip applicator due to hygiene reasons even though I’ve heard it’s anti-microbial..However I quite like the applicator as it’s convenient as it effortlessly places product on the designated areas you require application. You can even blend out the concealer with the sponge, but I do not like to and prefer to use the Real techniques miracle sponge.
Also just to add, the concern that the sponge may be unhygienic is arguable but don’t let that hold you back in trying it as there is a way of removing it!! (the product is too good to not use it for this reason!)

Color range and coverage?

This concealer only comes in 2 shades here in the UK- light and nude ( in the US there are many more shades including a neutraliser and brightener shade!). I have mine in the shade ‘nude’ and feel that it is the perfect shade to conceal and highlight my under eye area. Even though this concealer is lighter than my skintone, I can put on an orange corrector under the eyes and apply this on top, and not worry about the under eye looking grey. This is because not only does it conceal but it also highlights the under eye area. This is due to the salmon undertone this concealer has which corrects aswell as brightens.
This concealer most definitely offers medium-high coverage and can easily be built up.
I find the shade ‘nude’ to be suitable for a wide variety of skintones. I am for reference a NC40 and have seen people with an NC30 use this too:)

Consistency?

Thin and light weight. It feels good to apply under the eyes as it is not heavy on the skin. I also find that the consistency of the concealer is of a mousse-like creamy consistency and blends out effortlessly on the face.

Longevity?

It lasts a good 8 hours on the skin. It also is amazing to use on top of other concealers like Maybelline’s fit me ( review here) or the Collection lasting perfection ( review here) as the shades I have (35 and deep) are more of a corrector shade and so this is perfect to highlight the face without it becoming too heavy or cake-y.Perfect concealer to layer if you require more coverage.

I do not feel this concealer needs to set but I do because I like to set any concealer under the eyes. p.s creasing is minimal so that’s a bonus!

So a definite holy grail concealer. .and one that I’ll always have in my stash..Even if you have your holy grail concealer and are looking for a highlighting concealer then this works fab too!!
