I mean, just c’mon…look at that beautiful outer packaging! It’s one of those lipsticks that are perfect as gifts and one that you hate to even throw away the box it comes in…beautiful gold and white….but wait it gets better…
The black and gold shiny packaging that just looks sleek, is lush and just the kind of lipstick you want to flaunt and carry in your handbag. The packaging entices you to just pick it up and see what it’s all about..So on that note, let’s get into the formula? How do they perform? longevity? Colours?
I must say I was super excited to recieve these Gwen stefani UD lipsticks* in the post as I absolutely love the Gwen stefani eyeshadow palette ( review here) and the UD matte revolution lipsticks ( review here) and so couldn’t wait to give these a whirl and just made any opportunity and excuse to wear these out…
I have 5 from the collection and right from the release everyone realised that there’s a lot of reds in the collection. Beautiful nonetheless and slightly different from each other. If you’re looking for that pin up look, then be sure to find a red in this collection that suits your taste. Now let’s get into the swatches without further a due….
(left to right; Ex- girlfriend, wonderland, 714, Spiderweb,Firebird )
Ex- girlfriend – Now this is the brown-nude in the collection. I find this lipstick to be rather sheer and on my pigmented lips it doesn’t show it’s proper colour. It has a beautiful glossy finish and I think paler skins tones will love this as an everyday lipstick. It looked super pretty on Tati aka glamlifeguru on youtube!
I must also add that regardless of it not being so opaque on my lips, I am quite pleased that it is still flattering on my skintone than other pink paler/ beige nudes are, and so I can still use it and rock it with a smokey eye.
714- The perfect matte blood red shade with a warm orange undertone. It’s comfortable on the lips as are with all UD matte lipsticks and if you love red lipsticks in a matte formula then you best jump on this one! !
Spiderweb- a deeper red shade. I would say this leans to a deep red shade but not quite maroon. This would be great for the fall time and if you love your deeper darker colours then this one is amazing.
Firebird- Now this has to be my favourite from the whole collection. If I must admit I’m more of a pink/purple mauve-y lipstick gal and so this bright pink shade has a hint of purple undertones. It is just stunning and brightens up my medium complexion! ! I love to wear this lipstick sheer as it provides the lips a nice amount of colour and even full on for a bold brighter statement lip. This is that lip colour for me that I just know looks great! – ok stop bragging lol
Now as with all UD lipsticks, application of these lipsticks are great even without a lip liner as the bullet is pointed as with traditional lipsticks. They apply evenly and with full opacity on the lips. For the matte lipstick make sure your lips are exfoliated before use.
The major factor that is impressive with these lipsticks are the longevity of them. They are almost like lipstains as I had colour on my lips even after 9 hours of application and that was with only 1 application and no touch ups through out the day. This does mean that if I have been wearing it for a long period of time then you need to remove it completely with a makeup remover. Otherwise a wet wipe should do the job too…(takes off the majority of the lipstick and that’s what I used when doing lip swatches).
However after eating and drinking I did find lipstick from the inner rim of the lips to dissappear and this was mainly noticeable with the matte version.
Regardless of this, the lipsticks all felt comfortable on the lips and so I would highly recommend. The lipstick fades away quite evenly throughout the day so you may want to touch up after eating.
Packaging, formula, bright colour selection is all great, something for everyone..and so these UD lipsticks once again haven’t failed to impress me..
That’s it guys, which one is your favourite?
