A pot of gold: Kevyn aucoin’s sensual skin enhancer 😍

Today’s focus is on a product that has been on a long overdue products to review list…mainly because of how much I love the product and so wanted to make sure that this blog post lives up to how I feel about the product.

The name in itself ‘sensual skin enhancer’ is what drew me into finding out about more about this luxury beauty. It isn’t described as a foundation or concealer and being that my motto behind my blog is all about beautyfying beautifying or enhancing one’s existing beautiful face…I just couldn’t help think how a product that claims to be full of pigment and super full coverage be able to enhance one’s natural beauty? AND not mask it..

And so finally caved in, paid a whopping £38 😲 and picked up my shade in SX08 ; A perfect match for my NC35 skin and I just love the strong yellow undertones of the enhancer.

So what do I think?

First and foremost the consistency of this product is beautiful; super creamy and blend-able.- You can feel the high price tag of the product when you touch the product and not to forgot the cliché everyone mentions ; a tiny touch definitely goes a very long way! and just to add, you do get a whole 18g of product which will definitely last you for sometime, so don’t worry, you won’t run out anytime soon…

Smell & fragrance?

The product does have a smell but I can’t quite put my finger on the smell and describe it… but all I can say is that it isn’t over fragranced and nor does it smell unpleasant ( well not to me anyway!). In fact the smell denotes a luxury smelling product if that makes sense. Almost like how I would expect an expensive luxury beauty product to smell. …an oldern luxury smell…maybe of how the Royals would have their cosmetics to smell 😂.

So why do I love this product?

My love comes from the fact that the product is so versatile. You can use this product as a concealer or foundation and even though it is very pigmented it can be used according to the way you wish.
It could be mixed in with oils or moisturiser for a sheer natural finish or even build it up for an intense full on asian bridal coverage or even use a lighter and darker shade for some serious on- point highlight and contouring – It’s up to you!

But why is it so worth it’s price tag? and the reason why it stands out from other concealers? This is definitely because of the consistency of this product- which is perfection….👌
It’s not too creamy but blend-able and doesn’t in the slightest feel greasy or waxy or dry on the skin; again perfection.
And most significantly what makes it outstanding is how once it’s on the skin it almost mimic’s the skin like moisture and composition- and that’s why it’s such a beautiful product.

( this picture depicts my face with it under my eyes- a full coverage look!)

How do I use it?

I like to mainly use this as a concealer when I want a super flawless coverage as it effortlessly cancels out my dark circles in 2 little dots of the enhancer. If I want a natural looking under eye then 1 dot of the enhance blended out with a damp beauty blender or your fingers ( fingers are better) will provide a natural finish under the eyes.

If I want a complete full coverage look under the eyes then I’ll slowly build up the coverage allowing time for the first layer to set…so do 1 eye and then the next and rotate it until you’ve reached your desired coverage.

Finish?

Moreover I do also appreciate how it is not a matte finish and creates a very skin like dew to the skin. Almost trying to mimick your skin if used very sparingly.  I do find that as it is a cream product it does need to be set, so that it sets into place and to also prolong the longevity of the enhancer.
Once applied on the face the product doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.

If your someone that suffers from hyperpigmentation or even very dark circles (like me 🙁 ) than the combination of a good corrector and this enhancer will be all you need. It will definitely perfect your canvas and give you the full coverage you require.

Color selection and undertone?

I do find these enhancers to have a yellow undertone, however some are more neutral than others. My best advice would be to get colour matched if possible. This product is very pigmented and so not forgiving if it’s the wrong colour and definitely be hard to work with. For me, I love the strong yellow undertones of sx08!…it’s beautiful for the under eye area and works well for asian undertones.

Longevity?

The enhancer tends to last on me for about 8 hours if set properly and starts to show signs of fading around the 7 hour mark. Considering that I do still feel that my under eye circles still have coverage at the end of the day is what makes this a winner for me. It is quite long lasting but I do prefer to use this product as a concealer than foundation.

Creasing?

Another major fact I adore about this product is the way that it can be built up and yet look very natural if blended in properly. You can build up the concealer under the eyes, making sure you give it sometime before applying the second layer and actually create a beautiful skin like flawless finish to the skin. Also regardless of layering I find that after it is set there is minimal creasing and if any then the kind of creasing any concealer would give because in all honestly, it’s kind of unevitable to have any creasing if you have a thousand wrinkles near your eyes ( just make sure to moisturise and use a smoothing primer if need be!).

Cons?

A point to also note is that if you wish to use this product as a foundation then be sure to use a good mattifying primer if you have very oily skin. The product is a cream and quite moisturising and so make sure to set it into place. However I do feel that this product is suitable for all skin types and so with the combination of correct skin prep for your skin type, can make it work.

The only actual con is probably the fact that it takes time to blend into the skin ( which is actually worth it for the finish it gives!). Especially if you want a natural looking finish. I would steer away from this product if you want your make up done in a few minutes as this needs to buffed into the skin well to achieve a flawless finish to the skin…

Did you know?

I have also heard that for that highlighted kim k under eye look, Kim kardashian and the likes of beauties like Faryal Makhdoom use this product to highlight the face. So if you want that look then you need this! 🙂

All in all though, a true sensual skin enhancer as it’s name suggests and so I highly recommend this little beauty…It’s almost like you could take this one foundation with you and never need any other concealer to cover up any minor to major skin problems..So don’t be afraid of it’s steep price tag as it seriously will last you forever or even years even if used daily! 😆👌

Let me know if you’ve tried this and what you think?

Thanks for reading 🌹

    Thar was a great review..
I have this product from a week now although i love it a lot.. i do find it oxidising and i find it fading away after a few hours.. it doesnt look as fresh on skin snd it doesnt give intense coverage as mac concealers if applied just one layer..
But i will try youtlr technique of building layers after letting first one dry
    Thanks

      thank you for reading hun!
Also do set it properly if you feel that it fades away quickly and layering definitely helps. I’m glad this post was helpful! x
