A touch up foundation? No7 beautifully matte foundation

The No7 beautifully matte mousse foundation 30g is probably one of my all time holy grail foundations and I thoughts it’s about time I let you know why I love it so much. It actually was discontinued at some point and then bought back due to popular demand. I guess that already tells you how good a product really is…(it was originally called No7 intelligent balance mousse foundation and now re-packaged to No7 beautifully matte foundation)
From the title your probably thinking ‘touch up foundation’? what is that supposed to mean?  – well that’s what I’m here to tell you about.

The foundation, as the name suggests is a mousse like texture and provides a medium to full coverage, matte finish. Preferably best for oily skinned people and not so suitable for dry skinned people. I have combination skin, and as long as I have well moisturised my dry areas, it works well on me.

What does it claim to offer?

Light as air…

Give your skin a powder soft finish with this dreamy soft mousse colour. It glides on effortlessly for a barely there feel, and keeps skin shine free all day long with a soft natural looking finish. Light diffusing particles soften the appearance of fine lines for a luminous look, indoors or out.

Fragrance free this clever mousse not only provides beautiful coverage but knows where the skin needs to holf onto moisture and where it needs to work on holding back the shine.

I actually prefer dewy foundations, but this foundation sets to a powder finish which looks quite natural but flawless on the skin. It is also is very light weight and does blur out imperfections. Some people might find it looking too flat but sometimes I enjoy that as you can always bring back radiance and luminosity to the skin.

well how do I use it? -a touch up foundation ?

Well just the way you have a powder to touch up when you’ve been out on a long day and don’t have time to redo all your makeup and the only thing you can really do is apply more powder…is were the boots No7 beautifully matte mousse foundation work it’s magic…

Now here’s the thing..I don’t like to use this as a foundation alone. I find the finish looking a bit dry at times, especially if my skin is dehydrated..

I love to use this as a touch up foundation, for example when you’ve been wearing makeup for sometime, need it to be freshened up and you can’t be bothered to wash it all off and start again…..

and also just to point out, using a liquid foundation on top of all the makeup on your face can make it drastically  cakey and this is were this base is perfect. It applies beautifully over any foundation, bb cream or powder and so with a few dabs buffed in you get a medium to full coverage- non cakey, freshly applied flawless face 😗. Perfect for those long days when your feeling lazy but need to look fresh… (and when it’s that time of the hour were your foundation has rubbed off your nose, chin and forehead!😥😦)

Also sometimes when I need super full coverage and extra longevity from my foundation, I use a good liquid foundation and then use this no7 mousse foundation on top to set it. This way I get more coverage but still a non-cakey finish to the skin. This lasts on me from the morning till I take it off (about 12hrs+ hours!!) and so using this as almost a setting powder product is fantastic for longevity and extra coverage! – that’s some extra tips for you 😆

The above picture shows the new packaging which is much nicer as opposed to the old packaging (which is shown in the first picture) which was pretty bulky. I have them in two shades. The swatches above are left- almond which has a pink undertone and right -wheat which has a yellow/beige undertone and perfect for my NC35 skin tone. The only downside is that I believe the shades are limited as almond (at the moment Boots online is only showing 3 shades available and I don’t think almond is available and if that’s the case then wheat is the darkest shade in the line!) is the darkest shade available.

I think those of you who have oily skin and love mousse type foundation e.g maybelline mousse foundation (which I actually didn’t like because of the way it sat on my skin) will absolutely love the way this looks and sits on the skin even as foundation alone, let alone a touch up foundation. I honestly think that this is one of the best mousse foundations on the market and doesn’t recieve the hype it deserves. If my skin is well moisturised and normal, even using this foundation alone will still truly create an airbrushed, flawless finish to the skin.

You can purchase this for £13.50 which is a little pricey but you always have no7 vouchers (for £3 off makeup) and the 3 for 2 offers so you can snap it up then, and if you do like mousse foundations I’m sure you’ll be happy paying the price for this like I did!!😆

So let me know if you have tried it?and what do you think?

I’m interested in trying this foundation but not sure of the colours.. I’m either a 1N2 (Ecru) or 1W2 (Sand) in Estee Lauders doublewear, closer to sand as the ecru I find looks too light… any thoughts? Thanks!

Hope you well.. If your closer to sand in Estée Lauder than you may find it hard to get a good colour match with no7. I say this because sand in Estée launder has a lovely yellow undertone which no7 foundations in general tend to lack. I may think cool beige or cool ivory should be a good match. However do try and go test it in store. Here in the UK our local drugstore have the no7 skin match service where they use a device and will let you know your foundation skin shade!! which is great but we only have a very limited range in this foundation ( I think maybe 4 shades!; ()

Let me know what you think after you have tried it!

      thanks for reading x
