Quick review: budget highlighter – Elf’s pinktastic blush & no7 limited edition bronzer review & comparison

Highlighters are my serious obsession! It’s the part I enjoy applying when doing my makeup- the finishing touch.. I just love the way they look -I love to swatch them- admire the consistency- check for glitter( because I don’t want glitter but I don’t mind shimmer ) – see how finely milled they are- and eventually swatch it on my face to get that jlo glow:)and it just brings the whole look together…

Now what’s the first thing you look for when purchasing a new highlighter? Well for me it’s whether the product will bring back some glow to my dull face- I want a lit from within look and to portray that youthful radiance that some people already have ( to those who do- I envy you!)…

And so when I bought this Elf baked highlight/blush (described as a blush on Elf’s website, I don’t know why:/but definitely is a highlighter in my opinion.- )…I didn’t expect much because it was only a few pounds…

Don’t judge makeup by its price- that was well said because this Elf blusher is fantastic ! Perfect for those of you on a budget…I purchased it from the Elf UK site (which is currently being upgraded) and got it for less than £3.75,because of the sale that was on but it usually retails for £3.75.

So I wore it a few times,  noticed the sheen and glow it gave to my face…and started reaching for it more, and hence the reason why I’m now rave reviewing it 🙂

Elf’s piñktastic blush/highlighter is a pale gold colour which has pink veining through it and so some swatches have more pink than others. As  it is a baked product I have noticed from pictures, that other ones have less pink and more pale gold than mine does.

The packaging is like the standard Elf packaging with a  transparent plastic lid, and the actual product  is quite small and compact which I much prefer than bulky packaging. There is  6g of product and so will definitely last some time…

This could be used as a  pale gold with pink undertoned blush colour for very pale skinned girls…or could be used as blush topper to get a glow from a matte blush you own. It does contain small particles of shimmer but this translates on the face as a beautiful sheen, so you definitely won’t look like glitter bomb, but you need to use a light hand as the product is quite pigmented. You can build up the intensity of the highlight depending on your preference…

It also is very similar to a No7 limited edition bronzer I bought sometime ago which I adore because of the softness, sheen, colour variety of the highlighter/bronzer ( I seriously don’t know why it’s called a bronzer!!because it certainly isn’t!)…

The swatch on the left is No7 and the  right swatch is Elf’s highlighter. There are 5 shades in the No7 limited edition bronzer (can be used as eyeshadow too! ) which can be used seperately or swirled together. The pink shade in the middle mixed with a bit of the light gold gives a similar colour to ELf’s pinktastic. So now as I have an alternative to one of my favourite highlighters by no7 ( which I think you can’t purchase as it came in a set with a brush and it was limited edition) I shall not worry!;)

Elf’s piñktastic is finely milled and gives of this beautiful glow like some high end highlighters I own. It lasts on the cheekbones for pretty much the whole day and so wears for at least 8 hours. It seriously is amazing for the price and I highly recommend.Superb!

and just to add one product I reviewed was described as blush, the other as a bronzer- both are actually highlighters! lol….found that quite funny 🙂

Have you tried this!? Let me know what you think? Next up on my highlighter wish list is Becca’s Opal….what’s yours?

Thanks for reading
