Beauty Budget Edition: Essence I love extreme crazy volume mascara

Today’s focus is on a budget buy mascara: Essence I love extreme crazy volume mascara.
Finally Essence make up (US brand) can now be purchased at Wilkinson here in the UK!

Now on to the review… I picked up this mascara when purchasing some Essence lip liner’s which I really enjoy and wanted to see whether  the brand has any other great products. The brand is relatively more inexpensive than the standard High street-Boots/ super drug cosmetic  prices (like Loreal,Maybelline,Rimmel etc)  so I thought I’d see whether this £2.80 mascara lives up to its claims…

the I love extreme mascara’s “crazy” sister – for even more volume! the deep-black, creamy texture covers each individual lash with color and the extra-large plastic brush provides sensational volume. the mascara container is designed in the usual i love-colors, except they’re the other way around – in a cool pink with black lettering. opthalmologically tested. – (Taken from Essence eu website)

The mascara definitely gives tremendous volume and length! It lives up to its claims of dramatic long lashes and I enjoy the effect it gives me.(To note, my lashes are of a medium length, not long at all….so these definitely make them appear like I have full lashes).
However I do have a con to this mascara, – The wand picks up way too much product and without scraping some of the product into the tube you will end up with clumpy thick long lashes (-unless you want that look! This mascara is perfect!)  But to rectify this problem make sure to take your time when applying this mascara making sure your lashes don’t clump together which will avoid making a mess . It takes 2-3 coats to get the look I want…
The wand is a plastic type applicator and there are small and long bristles/spikes (what do you call them) which help in grabbing every eyelash for maximum volume and length.  (Also a point to note is to curl your lashes for the maximum effect.)
The end results are long voluminous lashes which don’t turn crunchy like some mascara’s do once they have dried- which is fantastic! I also have the non waterproof version but I still find it lasts very well and wears  well with minimal smudging or flaking…It is also easy to remove with a decent make up remover (like the Garnier Micellar water)

Also a major factor  I look at when buying mascara is to see whether it ways my lashes down (is it just me? or do some mascara’s feel uncomfortable and heavy on the lashes and you can’ t wait to get it off) and this doesn’t do that and feels quite comfortable on the eyes!

So I definitely recommend this for those of you looking for a good  budget-friendly mascara : )
